watercolor painting of some rocks at Laguna Beach

Jason Li Plein Air Watercolor Workshop

I had the privilege of attending a plein air watercolor workshop with Jason Li at the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association back in May. I’ve never done plein air painting before; it was a bit of a challenge, but I ended up with a few pieces I’m pretty proud of!

These two paintings were done in the studio as we went over basic techniques. Jason helped me a lot with the first one and a little with the second, so I don’t feel like I can truly claim these are my paintings, but I still like them.

These two were done in plein air at Heisler Park. (They were both done the second day we did plein air… we don’t need to talk about what happened the first day, ha!) There were plenty of learning moments throughout the three day workshop, but I think for my first time these pieces are nothing to sneeze at.
